
Without exception, the oldest form of cooking worldwide is over an “open flame”. The world has come a long way in cooking capability and technique over all those years but it is not surprising that one of the most primitive cooking methods has survived and is more popular than ever. There is no substitute for the flavor and visceral reaction that you get from outdoor cooking in all its’ forms.
Even here in America, with the possible exception of baseball, there isn't a tradition more "American" than
"Backyard Grilling and Barbeque". Growing up, I can't recall a time when Grilling and Barbeque wasn't part of almost any celebration. Summers were all about outdoor Barbeques. Picnics were all about Barbeque. Beach parties were all about Barbeque. Ball Games were all about tailgating and Barbeque. The smell of a freshly started grill. The smoky scent of the cooking food. Steaks, Ribs, Roasts, Burgers, Chicken, Wild Game, Fish, Vegetables and even Breads and Fruit.
Basically, nothing was safe from the grill or the smoker in my world (Still isn’t).

We all carry those memories into adulthood and pass them along in much the same manner as they were passed on to us: with "Celebrations", "Cook-outs", "Back-yard Parties", "Traditions", "Grill Gadgets", “Secret Spice Rubs”, "Family Barbecue Sauce", "Recipes" and "Memories". Anywhere, Anytime, Any Meal, Any Snack. Summer, Winter, Spring or Fall, barbeque or grilling could be made to work. We were all
"Fools" for barbecue.
